Description

While science is at the core of digital technology development, a minimum level of proficiency in reading and numeracy serves as a basis to use digital technologies effectively. This indicator measures the percentage of students aged 15-16 years who are top performers in science, mathematics and reading. It highlights the level of foundational skills acquired at an early stage that are needed for individuals to live and work in a digital economy and society. Top performers are those who achieved the highest level of proficiency (i.e. Levels 5 and 6) on the OECD PISA assessment (see notes).
